Kai at Kanuka Corner

You are what you eat!

Our kitchen is at the heart of our centre, reflecting our passion for simple, delicious kai using locally sourced ingredients where possible.

Our tamariki are involved in planting the seeds for our fruit and vegetables, with support they nurture the seedlings into strong, healthy plants. When it’s time to harvest, our children relish in picking fresh berries, tomatoes, beans, peas and all manner of fresh produce.

Example seasonal menu

Ko ngā pae tawhiti, whaia kia tata.
Ko ngā pae tata, whakamaua kia tina.

The potential for tomorrow depends on what we do today.

Preparing the Kai

From garden to table

In the kitchen, alongside our chef, tamariki can help to create fresh, nutritious dishes filled with colour and texture.

The food we serve changes seasonally reflecting the earth’s natural rhythms. We believe that you are what you eat and that’s why a healthy, nutritious, and balanced meal supports our tamariki to reach their full potential.
